This Saturday and Sunday, approximately 16,000 individuals are sitting for selection tests to access various levels of public service within the Generalitat. The calls for applications, published on February 2nd, pertain to civil servant positions across multiple categories, including senior, management, administrative, auxiliary administrative, higher education, diploma, and subaltern staff.
The administration of these selection processes has been managed by the Escola d’Administració Pública de Catalunya. The examinations are spread across four main locations: Barcelona hosts 10,924 applicants at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and at the faculties of Law and Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona. In Girona, 1,567 participants are taking the exams at the faculty of Economic and Business Sciences or the Faculty of Law of the University of Girona. In Lleida, 1,354 individuals are being tested at buildings of the University of Lleida, while in Tarragona, 1,770 students are examining at the Rovira i Virgili University.
The Government has emphasized that this call fulfills its commitment to provide annual employment opportunities and enhance transparency in attracting new talent. Since the beginning of the current term, 16,932 positions have been approved in public employment offers for 2025 and 2026, aiming to reduce temporary employment below 8% and promote administrative reform.
The provided data indicates that 71.3% of the applicants are women, compared to 28.3% men. Future civil servants will be required to complete a mandatory course during the first quarter of 2027, after taking up their positions. This course is designed to ensure that new public employees possess not only the accredited technical knowledge but also the necessary skills and competencies for their roles, with a particular focus on institutional organization, digital skills, and public service values.
