The Alt Empordà delegation of the Official College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) is launching a cycle dedicated to studying five community housing experiences, featuring key doctoral theses.

The Girona delegation of the Official College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) in Alt Empordà has organized a cycle of activities focused on analyzing five community housing models. This cycle, titled Architectural Synthesis, will commence on Friday at 7 PM.
The first session will include the presentation of the doctoral thesis Cinc comunitats (Five Communities), by architect Jaume Farreny Morancho. His research delves into five ways of living communally in the Terres de Lleida region, examining projects developed by architect Ramon Maria Puig between 1965 and 1980. The study uses drawing to reveal cohabitation strategies, considering factors such as landscape integration, agricultural or urban context, and the aggregation of domestic cells.
The investigation primarily relies on the documentary archive of Ramon Maria Puig, analyzing original drawings and plans to reconstruct his architectural thinking. Direct experience from the studied works provides a sensory and spatial dimension, resulting in five cartographies with a unified graphic syntax, where drawn and written graphics combine to create a unique methodology for architectural research and representation.
The cycle will continue on June 11th at the Garrotxa-Ripollès Delegation of the COAC, with the presentation of the doctoral thesis Arquitectura comparada (Comparative Architecture) by Félix de la Fuente. The closing event will be on June 18th at the Girona Demarcation of the COAC, featuring the thesis Alison i Peter Smithson, Axel Bruchhäuser i la Hexenhaus, presented by Anna Bach.
