The specimens, including two pine trees, one cypress, and two Arizona cypresses, suffered significant damage from the strong winds in March, becoming tilted, broken, or leaning directly against the historic wall.
The intervention will require specialized tree climbing techniques due to the difficulty of access with mechanical means in these sensitive areas. Workers will have to dismantle the trees in sections to ensure the safety of both the heritage site and the surrounding environment.
At the Portal de Sant Cristòfol, two pine trees over ten meters tall that were left leaning will be felled. A six-meter cypress leaning against the wall will also be removed, increasing the complexity of the operation to prevent structural damage.
In the Passeig Arqueològic, two Arizona cypresses over ten meters tall that were also left leaning will be addressed. Additionally, a branch from a six-meter pine tree with damage posing a risk to pedestrians will be pruned.
The vegetative remains will be transported to a composting plant, and the work area will be cordoned off to ensure safety during the operations, which are expected to last two weeks.
The base tender budget for this work is 6,044.48 euros, including VAT.
