The Girona City Council has formally required the owners of the building at 13-15 Ronda Ferran Puig to clean up raw sewage flooding its interior courtyard.

Municipal authorities took action after neighbors from adjacent buildings reported unbearable smells and health risks. The issue stems from blocked drainage systems in the occupied block, which have been leaking human waste into the shared courtyard since last December.
The building has been occupied by several families since the summer of 2024, leading to ongoing community conflicts. Previous incidents include illegal electricity connections to streetlights and noise complaints that have driven some local residents to move away from the area.
While the Mossos d'Esquadra police force has carried out partial evictions, the apartments are often re-occupied immediately. The structure is currently in a state of decay and is eventually slated for demolition due to its proximity to the railway lines.
