The Girona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya have secured a 24.9 million euro investment for the Pont Major district as part of the 2026-2031 Neighborhood Plan.

The project aims to integrate the northern neighborhood with the rest of the city by improving public spaces and social services. Key developments include the establishment of a cultural hub named La Casa de les Lletres and significant upgrades to pedestrian accessibility along Sant Joan Bosco avenue.

"The investment is always welcome, but it must be effective and realistic."

Josep Maria Castanyer · President of the Pont Major Neighborhood Association
Mayor Lluc Salellas emphasized that Girona was selected among 83 competing projects. The transformation also includes the Destilleries urban plan, which will introduce 441 new apartments and a green corridor connecting local schools and sports facilities to the Ter River banks.
