The staff of Girona+Neta, the company responsible for waste collection in Girona, has announced new protests this March as negotiations for a new labor agreement remain completely stalled.

The works council, representing CCOO, UGT, CGT, and Intersindical unions, criticized the company's stance as unacceptable. Workers are opposing new shifts that would hinder work-life balance and the requirement to work on public holidays.

"The company wants workers to bear the costs of an insufficient and unrealistic contract."

The dispute also involves the Girona City Council, which workers accuse of being too close to the company's interests. They claim that recent changes to the container system have increased costs without improving the actual cleaning service due to insufficient collection frequencies.
A three-hour protest is scheduled for this Friday in front of the municipal building. Union leaders warned that further actions could be taken, potentially affecting major local events such as the Temps de Flors flower festival if no agreement is reached.
