The Salt-Ter Kayaking Club organized the 24th edition of the popular kayak descent on the Ter river, which this year saw the participation of 123 people of all ages. The event, described as fun and a protest, began at La Barca de Bescanó and concluded at the Parc de les Ribes del Ter in Fontajau, after a six-kilometer route.
Núria Fontané, vice-president of the club's board, called this year's edition a success, highlighting the absence of accidents and the "great fun" on the water. During the two hours of the descent, regroupings were held to assist those who fell into the water, emphasizing the event's popular and cooperative nature.
Fontané noted that, for the first time, it was necessary to walk a short section of the route due to the presence of roots and trees that could pose a risk to inexperienced participants. The decision was made to ensure maximum safety, returning to the water after this segment.
“"In summer it feels great and it should be like this all year round. It's really cool to be in the river to see it from another perspective."
The club stressed that the descent carries a protest element to defend the ecological flow of the Ter river, in memory of Francesc Ferrer, a key advocate for this cause. Fontané emphasized the importance of keeping the natural space clean and respecting the river's flow, expressing the wish for this situation to be maintained throughout the year.
The activity was characterized as festive and suitable for all ages. Fontané highlighted the presence of young children in kayaks, who enjoyed the experience with "a smile from ear to ear." After the descent, participants received a commemorative t-shirt and shared a meal in the park.
