The Ministry of Culture has detailed that Girona ranks as the third province in Catalonia with the most cultural voucher applications, totaling 2,460 beneficiaries. This figure places it behind Barcelona (22,490) and Tarragona (3,275), but ahead of Lleida (1,386). In total, nearly 30,000 Catalan youths have requested this aid during the first month.
Despite the high number of applications, Girona shows the lowest percentage of 18-year-olds who have taken advantage of the initiative, with 23.8% of the estimated 10,331 potential beneficiaries in the province. Comparatively, Lleida has a 25% uptake, Tarragona 30%, and Barcelona 32.6%.
The program, now in its fifth edition, allows recipients to invest 400 euros in cultural activities. This year's novelty includes the possibility of acquiring materials for artistic creation, such as musical instruments or cultural courses, in addition to traditional cultural products. The deadline to apply for the voucher is October 31st.
The Youth Cultural Voucher has shown consistent growth since its inception in 2022. In 2022, 277,607 people benefited, and by 2025, the figure exceeded 360,000 young people. In 2026, the voucher is divided into two modalities: one distributing the investment across live arts (200 euros), physical cultural products (100 euros), and digital consumption (100 euros), and a second modality dedicating the entire amount to courses, workshops, or musical instruments.
