The Girona Urban Property Chamber has reported a 38.7% decrease in rental contracts in the city of Girona since 2021, citing regulatory changes as a primary cause.

According to the 2025 third-quarter report, the rental market is facing extreme tension. While contracts dropped by over 37% in Figueres and 34% in Olot, average prices in Girona city have risen to 826.02 euros, a 3.4% annual increase.
The Chamber highlights that many landlords are choosing to sell their properties instead of renting them out due to price regulations and tax increases. This shift has led to a near-total disappearance of available rental stock in key urban areas.
To address the crisis, the institution calls for new housing policies that encourage private investment and boost the construction of public and mixed-model housing units.
