The popular air fryers allow for healthier cooking, but experts warn that introducing liquids, cheese, or aluminum foil can be dangerous or damage the appliance.

Air fryers have become one of the best-selling small appliances recently, as they allow food to be fried with very little oil. This alternative reduces calorie intake while enhancing the flavor of dishes, facilitating a healthier diet.
Despite their benefits, there is a list of foods that should be avoided. Firstly, it is forbidden to introduce liquids such as soups, creams, or wines. If cooking fish or other wet foods, ensure they are well drained. Cheese cannot be fried directly, although it can be used as an extra ingredient in some recipes.
In addition to food, there are materials that can be dangerous for the appliance. Aluminum foil should not be introduced, as it can cause uneven cooking (only on the uncovered side) and, most importantly, there is a risk of the foil coming into contact with the electrical heating element, which could be hazardous.
Instead of aluminum foil, experts recommend using parchment paper (baking paper). Furthermore, it is not advisable to introduce additional kitchen utensils beyond those already commonly used in a conventional oven, to prevent damage to the air fryer.
