Moncho attributes Bàsquet Girona's defeat to Baskonia's 7 offensive rebounds

The Galician coach regretted the lack of control under the basket in the final quarter, although he is not worried about the total points conceded.

Bàsquet Girona coach, Moncho, attributed the second consecutive defeat at Fontajau against Baskonia to the seven offensive rebounds the opposing team captured during the final quarter of the game.

The second consecutive stumble for Bàsquet Girona at home has a clear culprit for Moncho: defensive rebounding. Although the Girona team is usually effective in this aspect, the coach deeply regretted the 7 offensive rebounds that Baskonia managed to capture in the last ten minutes of the match.

"They were fundamental to the final defeat."

Moncho explained that the concessions were not due to a single cause, but that each lost rebound was due to different circumstances, including luck in balls going long or strange bounces after free throws, ruling out a lack of effort from his players.
Regarding the trend of conceding more than 90 points in five of the last six games, the Galician coach remained calm, assuring that he is more concerned with points per possession than with the overall result. He confessed that the priority is to improve defensively, especially in “backdoors, rebounds, and one-on-ones”.
This defeat has dashed the few remaining hopes Bàsquet Girona had of qualifying for the Copa del Rey. Nevertheless, Moncho downplayed the elimination, focusing on the “day-to-day, the next training session, the next opponent,” before facing the next game in Badalona against Joventut.
