Victòria Pagès and Irene Pujadas Headline Girona's Fantastic Genre Cycle

The ninth edition of the cultural initiative, held at the Carles Rahola library, will focus on dubbing and extraterrestrial life.

Actress Victòria Pagès, writer Irene Pujadas, and other experts will participate in the ninth Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Cycle at the Carles Rahola library in Girona, from January 23 to 30.

The Carles Rahola library in Girona will host the ninth edition of the Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Cycle between January 23 and 30. The event, promoted by the library in collaboration with the podcast Ningú no és perfecte and the association Oci Ficció, will feature prominent figures such as actress Victòria Pagès, writer Irene Pujadas, and philosopher Bernat Dedéu.
The cycle will address topics such as dubbing, the search for life beyond Earth, and the relationship between philosophy and science fiction. Scientific popularizer Joan Anton Català and dubbing actor José Posada will also participate. All activities, including talks, cinema, and board games, will be free of charge and open to the public.
The program will kick off on Friday, January 23, with "Expedient: Dubbing. Pagès and Posada," a conversation about the process of dubbing horror films. Both performers have voiced the characters Lorraine and Ed Warren in the film saga The Conjuring. On Tuesday, January 27, Joan Anton Català will offer the talk "First Contacts" on the search for extraterrestrial life, based on his book Hi ha algú, allà fora?.
The following day, Wednesday, January 28, writers Uriol Gilibets and Irene Pujadas will explore contemporary fantastic literature and Catalan folk-horror in the session "Beasts and Presences: The New Catalan Fantasy," based on their works Les feres and La intrusa, respectively. The cycle of talks will conclude on Thursday, January 29, with Bernat Dedéu, who will connect philosophy and science fiction through the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Finally, the film program includes the screening of Jaws on Monday, January 26, coinciding with its fiftieth anniversary, and Contact on Friday, January 30. Additionally, on Saturday, January 24, there will be a board game activity aimed at children and young people.
