The Canet de Mar City Council has held its first Tourism Table, a new forum for dialogue with sector professionals to drive the municipality's tourism development.

The Council's Boardroom hosted the inaugural session of the Tourism Table on Tuesday, October 13th, an initiative by the Tourism Department. The meeting brought together representatives from hotels, campsites, tourist accommodations, and other sector agents, along with contributions from professionals unable to attend in person.
The aim of this new forum is to transform shared needs and ideas into concrete initiatives, leveraging the knowledge of those who work directly with visitors. The session began with the presentation of the Canet de Mar Tourism Roadmap, focusing on four key areas: coordination between administration and the sector, development of tourism products and experiences, destination promotion, and visitor understanding.
Participants shared observations on key aspects such as public space maintenance, accessibility, mobility, parking, and coastal services. Opportunities to enhance Canet's unique resources were also identified, including its Modernist heritage, gastronomy, the Modernist Market Fair, and the combination of sea, nature, and culture.
The possibility of creating joint experiences linking accommodation, restaurants, heritage tours, and local activities was raised, with a focus on weekend getaways and off-season promotion. The potential of the Textile School (Escola de Teixits) for economic revitalization was also highlighted.
Communication between the Tourism Area and establishments will be strengthened to provide visitors with updated information. Furthermore, the collection of aggregated data on visitor origin and habits is being considered to guide future promotional efforts.
The next session is scheduled for January 2027, with participants expected to prepare specific proposals for discussion. A direct communication group will be established to share conclusions and forward issues to the relevant municipal departments.
