The town of Caldes d'Estrac will launch the 32nd Pesolada on March 20th, a gastronomic event focused on saving the local pea variety from the effects of global warming.

This traditional festival in the Maresme region highlights the difficulties faced by local farmers. The 'floreta' and 'garrofal' pea crops are suffering from increasingly warm and dry autumns, which disrupt their natural growth cycle.

"The trend is that autumn, winter, and spring have become drier and warmer, causing the peas to grow too quickly."

Beyond the restaurant menus, the Pesolada features cultural activities at the Fundació Palau and the 36th Popular Race on March 22nd. Free parking will be available in the blue zone from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to encourage visitors.
