The Mossos d'Esquadra and National Police arrested at least 14 people in Catalonia this Monday, including suspects in Mataró, as part of a major international operation against Turkish organized crime.

Coordinated by Europol, the dawn raids took place in several Maresme towns, including Mataró, Teià, and Tordera. The investigation also extended to Barcelona, Sabadell, and Lloret de Mar, with additional arrests reported in Bulgaria and Greece.
The criminal organization is accused of smuggling firearms into Spain and exporting large quantities of marijuana and heroin to other European countries. Investigators had been monitoring the group for months following a rise in weapons-related incidents in Catalonia.
Over 200 officers from specialized units were deployed during the operation. Police seized weapons, cash, and narcotics during more than ten simultaneous searches. The case remains under judicial secrecy as the Tortosa Court continues the investigation.
