The investigation began in 2024 after a private community requested to cut down the trees. Although initially found healthy, later inspections discovered that 95% of the foliage was dry and holes had been drilled into the trunks to inject chemicals.
Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of glyphosate. The council believes this action violates Article 263 of the Penal Code, which penalizes the use of poisonous substances to cause significant damage to property.
