The Pastorets de Mataró, one of the city's most emblematic Christmas shows, returns to the Sala Cabanyes on December 21, 2025, with ten performances, highlighting its new commitment to inclusion.

The main novelty this season is the inclusion of two fully accessible performances for people with auditory and visual diversity. The shows on January 10 and 11, 2026, will offer audio description, adapted subtitles, individual magnetic loop, and amplified sound, a pioneering initiative in the Pastorets de Catalunya circuit. The technical adaptation was carried out by the company Aptent, specialized in accessible theater.
The show, which has been performed continuously since December 25, 1916 (except during the Civil War), has been declared Cultural Heritage of the City of Mataró and awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi. More than 300 people, including actors, orchestra, and technical staff, make this amateur production possible, artistically directed by Lídia Rovira and Xavier Codony.
The score features arrangements by Joan Vives and is performed by an orchestra of twelve musicians. This edition incorporates a choir located in the theater's basement to reinforce the sung scenes. The choreographies, led by Anna Pons, Helena de Ramon, and Joan García, stand out in the prologue and in iconic scenes such as the Ball de les Pedretes.
The ten performances will take place between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026. The Sala Cabanyes also offers a Christmas Pack that includes access to the Pastorets and the plays The Greatest Showman and Peter Pan and Wendy for a combined price of 45 euros.
