The negative vote by the PSC on the budget is due to the “management that the government is doing” and the debt incurred by the investments, according to Cánovas. The socialist councilor regretted the lack of political dialogue, as the meetings were limited to technical aspects without the presence of the mayor or the first deputy mayor to explain the political strategy behind the numbers.
“"In the budget, our vote has been against the management that the government is doing and due to the repeated lack of transparency"
One of the most critical points is the loss of a European funds subsidy intended for the second nursery school, which, according to Cánovas, is the direct responsibility of the local government for failing to meet deadlines, which ended on October 31. She described the motion of censure against the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó, as unfair and accused the executive of lying by blaming the Generalitat or the PSC.
Regarding urban planning, the socialist leader expressed “zero confidence” in presenting the Tarter Maresme area for the neighborhood plan due to a lack of foresight. She also criticized the change in criteria by ERC and Junts regarding the urbanization of Transmesa and the proposal to convert Hortes de Ponent into an agricultural zone, arguing that the municipality must be treated as a whole and not in “disconnected pieces”.
“"I have zero confidence that the Tarter Maresme can be presented to the neighborhood plan because they do not work with foresight"
Finally, Cánovas lamented the year-long closure of the Museu de l’Estampació and the damage to the collection caused by works in Plaça Salvador Moragas. She also defended the PSC's parking plan, rejected by the government, which included utilizing the municipal market at night and special prices in the blue zone, instead of temporary solutions like parking at Can Sanpere.
