The Town Council of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres joins the celebration of World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10th, by adhering to the institutional declaration from the Diputació de Barcelona.

Through this adherence, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health, preventing emotional distress, and fostering a more inclusive and cohesive community. As part of this initiative, a sensitization talk has been organized at the Casal Jove for Thursday, October 15th.
Mental health is considered a fundamental aspect of well-being and quality of life. Therefore, Llavaneres works to integrate emotional well-being into the community sphere and make it accessible to all citizens. Recently, the Town Council launched the project Sentir-se bé a Llavaneres (Feeling Well in Llavaneres), which aims to bring emotional well-being to the streets and offer spaces and resources for emotional health care.
This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) and the Diputació de Barcelona, positions Llavaneres as a pioneering municipality in bringing emotional well-being to public spaces and daily life.
The project is implemented in various parts of the municipality, based on the idea that mental health is also addressed through proximity, prevention, and community networks. Coinciding with World Mental Health Day, the project was presented to students at the Institut Llavaneres on Friday, October 9th.
A talk on mental health for young people will take place at the Casal Jove and the Escolta Jove service on Thursday, October 15th, at Can Rivière, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The activity will provide tools for emotional well-being, identifying distress, and accessing support resources. No prior registration is required.

"Mental health is an essential dimension of health and quality of life for individuals. It is also a determining factor for personal development, social cohesion, community participation, and equal opportunities."

Diputació de Barcelona · Institutional Declaration
The Llavaneres Town Council adopts the institutional declaration from the Diputació de Barcelona, which focuses on promoting mental health, combating stigma, social inclusion, and the role of local governments. The declaration, initiated by the World Federation for Mental Health with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasizes strengthening collective commitment to emotional well-being and the prevention of mental disorders.
The declaration notes that despite progress, individuals with mental health issues continue to face stigma and discrimination, hindering their access to employment, housing, education, and full community participation. Recent social, economic, and environmental challenges, including the pandemic, have increased risk factors for emotional distress, particularly among vulnerable groups.
The Diputació de Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health and emotional well-being, fighting stigma, and fostering social inclusion in municipalities through its Mental Health Strategic Plan 2024-2027. This plan outlines actions to support local entities in developing transversal public policies.
Local governments play a crucial role in identifying needs, promoting community support networks, and implementing preventive actions. The Diputació is driving initiatives to strengthen community networks, prevent unwanted loneliness, support caregivers, and promote healthy environments.
The Intermunicipal Network for Mental Health has been launched to pool efforts, knowledge, and experiences, fostering joint projects and a coordinated territorial response. The Diputació is committed to continuing to work alongside municipalities to build healthier, more inclusive, and cohesive communities where emotional well-being is a priority.
The institution pledges to reaffirm its support for mental health promotion, implement local public policies, enhance prevention and awareness efforts, recognize the work of municipalities, and strengthen collaboration among administrations and territorial stakeholders. The active participation of individuals with lived experience of mental health and their families will also be promoted, and a transversal mental health perspective will be integrated into public policies.
