The Confederation of Ornamental Horticulture of Catalonia (CHOC) has distinguished Llavaneres for its ongoing work in improving public spaces through landscaping and gardening. This revalidation consolidates the municipality's commitment to a greener, more sustainable, and pleasant environment for its citizens.
The gala, held in Reus, brought together representatives from various municipalities to award the Flowers of Honor and highlight initiatives that beautify urban spaces. The highest distinction in the competition is four Flowers of Honor, and Llavaneres thus maintains a high level of recognition.
Mayor Àlex Neira and the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Annabel Martínez, attended the event to receive the distinction.
Additionally, the trencadís project inspired by Antoni Gaudí, created by local resident Teresa Vidal, was awarded. This artwork was displayed on the steps of the Parish Church of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres during the Corpus Christi celebration and also at the cathedral of Girona for the Temps de Flors event.
Vidal's proposal, developed during Gaudí Year 2026, combined trencadís with floral arrangements, turning the church steps into a highlight of the local Corpus Christi celebration. This recognition complements the Flowers of Honor and values citizen initiatives that enrich the town's floral heritage.
The Viles Florides initiative, promoted by the CHOC, aims to encourage greener and more sustainable municipalities, improving citizens' quality of life through urban green spaces.
