Since the acquisition, the council has promoted various technical and study works. The consolidation project is now complete, including the repair of the roof, interior structural consolidation, and the sealing of the space to prevent further degradation. These actions constitute the essential first step before tackling the complete rehabilitation of the complex.
“"In 2023, the public acquisition of the Molí de Miralles was formalized for an amount of 97,000 euros, an operation that had the collaboration of the private owner, who understood that the best way to preserve the building was public ownership."
Mayor Adam Tomàs recalled that the recovery of this heritage site is part of the Pla de Barris (Neighborhood Plan) project submitted to the Generalitat (Catalan Government). If funding is granted, the recovery could be accelerated and completed within the plan's timeframe, which initially spans five years, extendable up to eight.
The Molí de Miralles, originally dated to the 15th century, holds high historical and architectural value. One of its unique features is the reuse of stones from the ancient Amposta Castle, especially visible in the preserved archway, directly linking the building to other municipal heritage recovery projects in the historic center.
In parallel, the Museu de les Terres de l’Ebre hosted the public presentation of the historical and heritage studies carried out during 2023 and 2024. Archaeologist Judit Ciurana presented the history and architectural evolution, while Jordi Gallart showcased a 3D animation detailing the operation of the old wrought iron hydraulic press preserved inside the mill.
