The event, held at the church of the Assumpció de Maria, began with a solemn mass presided over by the Bishop of Tortosa, Sergi Gordo i Rodríguez, and included the presence of about twenty members of the Order of the Hospital.
Subsequently, the reading and dramatization of the original donation letter took place, led by Cristòfol Pons, allowing attendees to relive the foundational moment that occurred in 1150 by Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona and Prince of Aragon.
The closing ceremony culminated with a concert by the Coral Aquae of La Unió Filharmònica, directed by Núria Ferré. This performance served as the musical finale to a commemoration that aimed to emphasize the historical, patrimonial, and identity legacy of the municipality.
The donation in 1150 was crucial, as it allowed for the creation of the Priory of Catalonia and Aragon of the Order of the Hospital, known as the Castellania d’Amposta. This entity was headquartered in the city for nearly 130 years, establishing Amposta as a political and religious center of the first order in the country's medieval history.
