This infrastructure, connecting Roquetes and Sant Carles de la Ràpita, has been made possible through cooperation between the Diputació de Tarragona and the municipalities of Roquetes, Tortosa, Amposta, and La Ràpita. The inauguration event, scheduled for April 18, will include a public route that can be completed on foot or by bicycle.
The works, which began in 2023, involved an investment of 6.3 million euros. Of this amount, 5 million euros were covered by Next Generation European funds, as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, under the call for Sustainable Tourism Plans in Destinations.
Final tasks have included surface treatment of the pavement, installation of signage and intelligent systems to improve road safety. Additionally, furniture has been placed and trees planted at various points along the route.
The new section, approximately 27 kilometers long, is suitable for both cyclists and pedestrians, and will connect the greenway with the coastline. Furthermore, it will link the two major natural parks of the Terres de l'Ebre: the Els Ports Natural Park and the Ebro Delta Natural Park, thereby enhancing the area's sustainable tourism offering.
