The Generalitat Firefighters have been working since early yesterday afternoon on a wildfire in the municipality of Camarasa, in the Noguera region. The fire affects the protected natural area of Aiguabarreig Segre-Noguera Pallaresa and has necessitated the confinement of 14 individuals from the Fontllonga settlement. The flames are spreading through forest areas and cereal fields between the Camarasa reservoir and the aforementioned settlement.
To combat the blaze, 55 ground crews, 11 aerial units, and 160 personnel have been deployed, along with water tankers from volunteers of the Forest Defense Groups (ADF). Extinguishing teams have prioritized the left flank of the fire due to the risk of it spreading. According to provisional data, the fire affects 21.8 hectares, bisected by the C-13 road, which has been closed between Camarasa and Vilanova de Meià.
This incident adds to other fires that required firefighter intervention during the day. Mid-morning, a vegetation fire in Mont-roig del Camp (Baix Camp) mobilized 15 ground crews and 6 aerial units, leading to the confinement of several areas and the closure of the R16 commuter train line and the A-7 motorway. This fire affected 7 hectares and was declared under control in the afternoon. Additionally, at 18:42, a vegetation fire broke out in Aiguamúrcia, which was stabilized shortly before 9 PM.
The wildfire alert remains high, as 72 municipalities across 14 regions will be at the maximum risk level this Sunday. Regions such as Noguera, Pallars Jussà, Priorat, and Bages are among those most affected by drought and the risk of forest fires.
