An inclusive mountaineering project has brought together sixty hikers and volunteers in the Noguera and Urgell regions, allowing people with reduced mobility to enjoy the mountains thanks to adapted chairs.

The initiative, named Joëlette Ponent-Muntanya per a Tothom, aims to make inclusive excursions a regular activity in the Lleida landscape. The goal is for no one to miss the experience of climbing a mountain, using adapted chairs that facilitate access to trails for people with reduced mobility.

"We want inclusive excursions to be part of the usual landscape, not a one-off event."

The idea arose from observing the lack of stable proposals of this type in the plains of Lleida. Thus, a volunteer organization was created, equipped with Joëlette chairs, single-wheel devices designed for adapted hiking.
The first excursion took place last Sunday in the Bellmunt-Almenara mountain range, with the participation of about sixty people, including hiking clubs, schools, high schools, and associations. The activity was supported by Enreda't, a pioneering entity in inclusive hiking.
During the outing, two Joëlette chairs were used, allowing two users with reduced mobility to reach emblematic points and experience the mountains. The organizers of Joëlette Ponent have expressed their intention to organize more routes, increase the number of volunteers and chairs, and consolidate the idea that the mountains are accessible to everyone.
The entity was officially presented last Friday, May 10, at the Consell Comarcal de la Noguera. The event included the screening of the documentary Enredats al Balandrau and served to present the project's objectives, as well as the institutional commitment to support the creation of a stable network of inclusive hiking in the province of Lleida.
