The N-260 road passing through Montellà i Martinet has been identified as the road section with the highest accident rate in Alt Pirineu, according to a RACC study conducted between 2022 and 2024.

The mobility and accident study by the Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya (RACC) identifies the N-260 road, in the municipality of Montellà i Martinet, as the most dangerous road section in Alt Pirineu. This report, covering the period 2022-2024, also highlights the C-14 between Artesa de Segre and Ponts (la Noguera) as another high-risk area in the region.
During the report's presentation, the director of the Servei Català de Trànsit, Ramon Lamiel, emphasized the need for improved training for motorcyclists and announced the potential implementation of special road markings on dangerous curves, a measure already in place on the Collada de Toses and in Moianès.
The study also points to the C-26 between la Sentiu de Sió and Artesa de Segre as a high-risk route, in addition to the aforementioned N-260 in Martinet (la Cerdanya). Regarding the Artesa de Segre variant, which has seen two fatalities this year, Lamiel proposed to Territori the removal of the overtaking zone on a crest, suggesting the use of rough, continuous lines to warn drivers.
Concerning motorcycle and moped accidents, the N-230 between Lleida and Alguaire remains the road with the most incidents. The RACC notes that motorcycles are involved in 30% of accidents with fatalities and serious injuries, and in 34% of fatal accidents, despite accounting for only 2.9% of total mobility. Cristian Bardají, director of the Mobility Area at the RACC, warned of the disproportionate nature of these figures, stating that half of serious and fatal motorcycle accidents occur on 20% of the road network.
