The Balaguer City Council announced the program for the Congre Carnival, scheduled for February 14 and 15, highlighting the extended Riuada parade route and new competition categories for groups.

Mayor Lorena González, along with council members Anna Profitós and Sandra Madueño, detailed the events designed to combine local tradition with entertainment for all ages. The festivities will begin on Saturday, February 14, with the traditional free tasting of congre stew (olla de congre) in the Plaça del Pou.
This gastronomic preparation, a key element of the celebration in Balaguer, will be prepared by the Associació Dona Rural, an organization dedicated to keeping this unique tradition alive.
The central event on Saturday will be the Riuada del Congre, starting at 5:00 PM. This year, the route will be extended from the Plaça del Mercadal to the Molí de l’Esquerrà Pavilion, where the costume ball and contest will be held, incorporating a new category for carnival groups.
At night, the pavilion will host the Sarau del Congre, featuring musical performances by Código 13, Jet Lag, and DJs Felipe Ye and Luara Bearka. Sunday, February 15, will conclude the celebration with the Matinal del Congre, which includes a grand parade of floats, children's entertainment, and the final prize distribution.
