The incident occurred around 11:45 AM at La Noguera campsite, located near the Sant Llorenç de Montgai reservoir. A gust of wind lifted a metal plate from the roof of a caravan, which fell inside the premises and caused injuries to three people.
The SEM transported the woman and one of the minors to the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida. The other minor, initially, did not require hospital transfer, according to preliminary reports.
“"At Camarasa campsite, the wind lifted a sheet, leaving 3 affected, all less serious: The SEM is transferring 1 woman and 1 minor to the Hospital. And also 1 other minor, who in principle would not be transferred."
The strong winds have generated a large number of incidents across the territory. The Generalitat Firefighters received about 350 calls between 8:00 PM on Saturday and 11:30 AM on Sunday. Most of these operations, 80% (261), were concentrated in the Girona Emergency Region, mainly for removing fallen trees and elements from roofs or the electrical grid.
In towns in the Baix Empordà such as Vall-llobrega, Palamós, and Calonge, falling solar panels and other roof elements caused damage to parked vehicles. In Sant Feliu de Guíxols, a large tree fell in the Jardins Juli Garreta area. Civil Protection maintains the Ventcat plan on alert, with forecasts indicating that the strong wind episode will continue until Tuesday morning.
Wind gusts have been particularly intense in the Alt Empordà, reaching 170 km/h, exceeding initial forecasts. Several roads have been closed due to fallen trees, including sections in Darnius, La Vajol, Fontcoberta, Camprodon, Vilallonga de Ter, and Quart. Renfe had already preventively announced the suspension of train services on the R11 between Figueres and Portbou, and on the R3 between Vic and Ripoll. By Saturday afternoon, Civil Protection had sent an alert to six regions: Alt Empordà, Berguedà, Garrotxa, Ripollès, Solsonès, and northern Cerdanya.
