The initiative, supported financially by the Ter-Llobregat Water Supply Entity (ATL), has helped maintain the riverine environments in good condition through the collection of trash and occasional dumping.
From late June to mid-October, weekly cleaning tasks were carried out in the most frequented spots and every 15 days in others, to prevent the accumulation of paper, cans, plastics, and other uncontrolled waste.
In total, 264.5 industrial bags of waste were collected, equivalent to approximately 33,125 liters. Among the removed items were also a table, wheels, an oven, two sinks, and a bicycle.
The service was provided in several municipalities, including Anglès, Sant Julià del Llor i Bonmatí, Bescanó, Sant Gregori, Salt, Sarrià de Ter, Sant Julià de Ramis, Sant Jordi Desvalls, Flaçà, and Colomers. The most problematic areas were La Pilastra (between Bescanó and Salt), where a third of the bags were collected, and Sant Julià del Llor.
The Consorci del Ter has expressed concern about the lack of awareness regarding the need to act appropriately in natural environments and to take waste away for recycling.
