The Department of Education launched a pilot program today in Tàrrega and four other Catalan areas to implement a decentralized governance model based on regional cooperation and local needs.

The initiative covers diverse areas including l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vic, and the Aran Valley. By signing five specific agreements, the administration aims to adapt educational policies to the social and demographic reality of each district, moving away from a centralized system.

"The best way to govern education is not only from the center of the system, but also from the territory."

Each zone will have its own action plan and a Joint Steering Commission to monitor progress. This model, supported by the 2009 Education Law, seeks to optimize resources and improve student outcomes through better coordination between local and regional authorities.
