An intense snow and wind storm affected the Pallars region over the weekend, leading to the closure of Port de la Bonaigua and ski resorts, along with numerous road incidents.

The Pallars region experienced a weekend marked by a snow and wind storm that caused significant disruptions. The snowline dropped below 700 meters, and wind gusts reached hurricane force in higher areas, leading to problems on the road network and paralyzing activity at local ski resorts.
The fresh snow, accumulating up to 20 centimeters in several locations, made driving difficult from early Sunday. The most notable incident was the complete closure of the C-28 at Port de la Bonaigua, which remained in effect on Monday morning. Additionally, on Sunday, special equipment like snow chains was mandatory on a dozen Pallars roads due to snow and ice.

"Throughout this Sunday, wind gusts well over 100 km/h have been measured in some sectors of Alt Empordà, Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, Montseny peaks and Terres de l'Ebre, with 168.5 km/h at the Sanctuary of Queralt and in Portbou - coll dels Belitres."

The wind was the most decisive factor of the storm, especially in elevated areas and in Pallars Jussà. Gusts of up to 117.7 km/h were recorded in Sant Romà d'Abella, 107.3 km/h in Certascan, 105.1 km/h in Espot, and 104.4 km/h in Montsec d'Ares. These conditions forced the closure of Espot Esquí and Port Ainé ski resorts on Sunday for safety reasons, as the gusts prevented the operation of ski lifts.
The Bombers (firefighters) carried out several interventions to mitigate the effects of the wind. One of the most significant actions took place in Figuerola d’Orcau, where a tree fell on road C-1412bz, blocking the village entrance. The Isona Volunteer Firefighters removed the tree, restoring circulation. In Abella de la Conca, emergency services intervened on an affected power line and responded to calls about fallen roof tiles. Despite the storm's intensity, no personal injuries were reported.
