Pallars celebrates Carnival with parades, traditional stews and street parties

Towns like la Pobla de Segur, Tremp and Sort host a wide range of traditional events this February.

The regions of Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà are celebrating Carnival this week with a full program of costume parades, communal meals, and dances across several municipalities.

In la Pobla de Segur, the festivities will run from February 14th to 18th. Key events include the popular escudellada stew, the float parade, and the traditional burial of the sardine on Wednesday.
In Tremp, the capital of Pallars Jussà, Carnival activities include a children's costume catwalk. Meanwhile, Isona will host its famous Festa de la Guixa on February 17th, featuring a local traditional stew.
In Pallars Sobirà, Sort remains a main hub with the arrival of lo Requincuà. Other towns like Rialp, Esterri d'Àneu, and Talarn will also hold traditional events such as the Ranxo lunch.
