The Santa Maria de Gerri de la Sal monastery in Baix Pallars is set to reopen to the public following a restoration agreement reached this February.

The most prized Romanesque emblem in Baix Pallars and a major heritage landmark in the Pallars Sobirà region is entering a new phase. After being closed for two years due to landslides, a three-way agreement will allow for its restoration.
The deal, announced last Friday, is vital for the management and preservation of the Santa Maria de Gerri de la Sal complex. This institutional partnership ends a period of uncertainty regarding the future of the historic building.
The planned intervention will focus on repairing structural issues while ensuring the monastery can once again welcome tourists, strengthening its role as a cultural hub for the local community.
