The inhabitants of the small hamlet of Escart, part of La Guingueta d'Àneu, have voiced their deep concern over the loss of silence and the pervasive noise generated by motorized tourism. They state that this situation has become particularly acute since the lockdown period.
The complaint focuses on the proliferation of motorcycles, ATVs, caravans, and buggies traversing the village. Residents point out that these vehicles travel at high speeds along the access track, which is barely 2.5 meters wide, lacks sidewalks, and features a steep drop on one side and a rock face on the other. This creates a constant risk of accidents, forcing residents, including children, to always be accompanied by an adult when outdoors.
The residents criticize what they perceive as a lack of environmental awareness and care from local politicians towards nature. They argue that this tourist activity not only affects native fauna, flora, and livestock but also endangers the physical safety of the inhabitants. They have noted that accidents and continuous rescues have already occurred, incurring significant costs for taxpayers.
“"Mr. Xavier Blanch, take a walk through Escart, la Borda de Feliu, Quatre Pins, Creu de l'Eixol, but don't forget to bring earplugs and a mask for the dust!!!"
