Mollerussa City Council will put forward for approval the contract award for the maintenance and energy improvement of public lighting, amounting to 4,244,097.47 euros, with a duration of 13 years.

The Plenary Session of Mollerussa City Council will debate this Thursday the award of the contract for the maintenance, energy improvement, renovation, and management of the municipality's public lighting installations. It also includes the energy improvement of outdoor spaces at municipal facilities. The contract has been awarded to the company Sociedad Española de Construcciones for a total value of 4,244,097.47 euros, including VAT, and will have a term of 13 years.
As explained by the Councillor for Sustainability, Josep Maria Garrofé, and Mayor Marc Solsona, the entire investment will be carried out within the first year, between June 2026 and June 2027. The awarded company, which offered a 30% reduction on the initial budget, has two months to prepare the projects before the street-level works begin.
Municipal forecasts indicate that the reduction in energy consumption and improved efficiency will generate an annual saving of almost 375,000 euros. This initiative, processed through the framework agreement of the Associació Catalana de Municipis (ACM), involves replacing 2,920 light fixtures with LED technology and renovating 136 lighting points at facilities such as the sports field or school playgrounds. A global consumption reduction of 71% is expected.
The project also includes the modernization of the electrical network with the installation of 50 new columns, the replacement of 150 deteriorated points, anti-corrosion treatments for over 2,000 columns, and the renewal of 11,000 meters of cabling. 42 control panels will be reformed with intelligent remote management systems.
Regarding financing, the expenditure planned for 2026 is 124,673.86 euros, with the remainder to be distributed until May 2039, subject to the approval of the municipal budgets.
The Plenary Session will also address the update of public prices for summer swimming pools to ensure the service's economic sustainability amidst rising operational costs. A linear increase of 5 euros is proposed for season passes, which had remained frozen, and a 12% increase for summer courses and aquatic activities, although prices will remain below the regional average.
