The Móra d'Ebre City Council Plenary provisionally approved the urban modification for the development of a new commercial area in Sector 19, supported by the governing team and rejected by the opposition, while formally joining AMAC.
The project for the commercial area implementation in Sector 19, which occupies nearly 15,000 square meters, was approved by the municipal government formed by Junts and Fem Poble. All opposition groups (UPM-FIC, Endavant, PSC, and ERC) voted against the specific modification of the subsidiary norms. The development of the sector is expected to be completed within a maximum period of one year once definitively approved.
This activity contemplates the creation of 30 or 40 jobs, a green zone and facilities, and furthermore, it will be an attraction for the locality, complementing local commerce and generating synergies for the municipality as a whole.
Separately, the Móra d'Ebre Plenary unanimously approved the incorporation into the Association of Municipalities in Nuclear Power Plant Areas (AMAC). This association's main objectives are nuclear safety, compliance with civil protection regulations, and promoting socio-economic development in the areas of influence of nuclear facilities, including the Ascó and Vandellós reactors.

"AMAC will be a new coordination space for municipalities close to these facilities, ensuring that our interests are represented."
Biarnés emphasized that the adhesion facilitates access to opportunities within the framework of the energy transition and just transition, promoting economic projects as an alternative to the closure of the power plants. Furthermore, he reported that a meeting for the Ascó-Vandellós zone will be held in Móra d'Ebre on February 18.
