Agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra dismantled a marijuana plantation in Tivissa (Ribera d'Ebre) on July 1st, arresting two men aged 21 and 61 for alleged drug trafficking.

The investigation began following information indicating the possible existence of a marijuana plantation on a farm within the municipality. Aerial surveillance and cartographic tools confirmed the presence of infrastructure dedicated to cannabis cultivation, leading to the planning of a police operation.
The operation, carried out on July 1st, uncovered a plantation covering approximately 10,000 square meters, distributed across 8 greenhouses surrounding a farmhouse in a wooded area of the municipality. The infrastructure included an irrigation system with a cistern and over 350 meters of hoses, as well as an electric generator for the extraction pump.
During the inspection, fertilizers, substrates, phytosanitary products, and other tools for intensive cultivation maintenance were found. Officers seized a total of 1,780 marijuana plants, ranging from 150 to 180 centimeters in height, in an advanced flowering stage.
The size of the plantation and its infrastructure suggest a production capacity far exceeding personal consumption, indicating a presumed focus on drug trafficking. The two arrested men were on the farm performing maintenance and care tasks for the plants.
According to police estimates, the cultivation could have yielded nearly 890 kilograms of marijuana. The detainees were brought before the duty investigating court in Falset on July 2nd.
