The mayors of Roda de Berà (Tarragonès) and El Vendrell (Baix Penedès) have called for fundamental actions to alleviate the effects of recent floods, identifying the train line as a key factor hindering water drainage.

Kenneth Martínez, mayor of El Vendrell, has urged for "brave decisions" to address structural issues, while Pere Virgili, mayor of Roda de Berà, has demanded ADIF take strong action to make the railway line "more permeable," thereby minimizing the impact of torrential rain events.
Both leaders agree on the importance of the railway infrastructure as an impediment to the proper outflow of water towards the sea. They consider these measures essential for reducing the impact of storms.
Regarding the absence of the ES-Alert during the floods, neither mayor questioned the decision. They emphasized the difficulty of predicting the intensity and scope of these storms in advance, which complicates the timely activation of mass alerts.
