The municipal pause on the blue zone in Sabadell has ended. Starting Monday at 9 AM, the approximately seventy parking meters will become operational again. During the central two weeks of August, the rotation parking system was inactive, primarily affecting the Centre and Eix Macià areas, with a minor exception near the Creu Alta market. In total, there are around 1,500 regulated parking spaces.
The summer break, which lasted two weeks, now returns to normal. It is estimated that the Sabadell City Council collects approximately 600,000 euros annually through this system. The hourly rate is 1.82 euros, with a maximum of two hours allowed, and the cost to cancel a ticket for exceeding time is 7 euros.
Compared to other Catalan municipalities, the duration of the break in Sabadell is shorter. L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the second most populous city, suspends its blue zone for the entire month of August. Terrassa, the third, pauses it for three weeks. In contrast, Badalona maintains the service throughout the month, except in a small area, and Barcelona, although it suspended the blue zone in August, has not made monthly distinctions since 2016. Other towns in Vallès Occidental such as Sant Cugat only charge in small specific areas, while in Cerdanyola, Rubí, Castellar, Barberà, Ripollet, and Montcada i Reixac, the blue or red zone is invalidated during August.
