The works, which have already begun with the installation of scaffolding, focus on the east wall, the albacar (outer bailey), and the adjacent space leading to the upper enclosure. The company RECOP is responsible for carrying out the tasks, which will necessitate closing the castle for the duration of the operations.
The primary objective of this first phase is to halt the deterioration of the walls and ensure their preservation for future generations, thereby enhancing the municipality's cultural and tourist image.
The intervention is supported by a grant of 124,696.26 euros from the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, awarded through the call for subsidies for the restoration of properties of notable cultural value (2024-2026). Additionally, it receives 35,775.26 euros from the Nuclear Transition Fund, with the remaining financing covered by the Móra d’Ebre City Council's own funds.
