The Ribera d’Ebre Regional Council approved the general budget of 9.7 million euros for 2026 on Tuesday, December 16, representing a significant 21.29% increase over the previous year.

The accounts, defined by the regional government as "expansionary," allocate a crucial part to strategic investments. Highlights include the new regional waste facility in Móra la Nova, with a budget of 579,532.42 euros funded by the Agència de Residus de Catalunya, and the Companion Animal Reception Center in Flix (512,195.12 euros), executed through the advancement of the PUOSC 2028 plan.
Also included is the acquisition of the upper floors of the Sant Valentí street building in Móra d’Ebre (250,000 euros) to consolidate regional assets and avoid future rents. President Francesc Barbero Escrivà emphasized that the budget "maintains financial solvency, without having to resort to structural debt."

"This budget demonstrates a clear commitment to strengthening services and promoting strategic investments that will improve the quality of life for citizens."

Despite the investment effort, the budget maintains a strong social focus. The Social Protection and Promotion Area exceeds 2.5 million euros (a 4.45% increase), guaranteeing essential services such as telecare and home care. The Preferred Public Goods Area (education, culture, and health) grows by nearly 50%, securing funding for school transport and dining services.
Finally, the plenary approved the extension of the 2022-2025 Program Contract with the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion for 2026, which improves the stability of programs like Zero Kilometer Aging and integrates the Migration, Reception, and Dignified Life Service.
