The alert for the fire was received around 1 PM in a wooded and orchard area located between the Ripoll River and the aforementioned neighborhood. By 2 PM, the fire was stabilized, although the units remained on site to prevent potential flare-ups.
This is not the first fire to occur this summer along the Ripoll River. In recent months, other blazes have been recorded in locations such as a factory in Can Roqueta, near the Joan Serra municipal pools, or close to the La Salut sanctuary. Just over a month ago, there was also a significant forest fire in Sentmenat.
This incident comes after Civil Protection activated the Infocat plan on high alert last Friday due to the high risk of forest fires across much of Catalonia. Although the danger decreases this Saturday, it remains high in many areas, with 83 municipalities at very high risk and 565 at high risk.
