The Cervera City Council, in La Segarra, has announced its application to the new 2% Cultural program call from the Spanish Government to finance the second phase of its medieval wall restoration.

The Mayor of Cervera, Jan Pomés, made the announcement during the visit of the Government subdelegate in Lleida, José Crespín, to the sector where the work is planned. This second phase will focus on a section of more than 200 meters on the western side of the fortification, which has never been restored and is in an advanced state of degradation.
This application would provide continuity to the first phase of restoration currently being carried out on the section known as the Barbacana. This initial action was prioritized due to the inclination of the structure, which posed a risk to the monument.
The mayor detailed that the master plan is being finalized to progressively recover the entire fortification, which was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The future intervention would also include improving the patrol path, from the old gate of Sant Magí to the castle.
