The project, titled Murs de pedra seca, pedra i foc (Dry Stone Walls, Stone and Fire), features eight large-format images reproduced at real scale using 3D technology. This proposal, combining documentation and experimentation, was recently unveiled in Torrefeta, coinciding with the inauguration of the town hall's expansion, and previously premiered at the FineArt festival in Igualada.
The photographs capture structures within the fire-affected perimeter, such as 'sitis' (unique constructions for beehives) and dry stone walls. Caus explains that the fire reveals elements of the environment that would otherwise remain hidden, making them "return to how they were long ago".
Fieldwork was challenging due to the vast terrain and landscape alterations. The photographer collaborated with local farmers to identify locations and navigate the fire-modified terrain.
The 3D technique enhances the "rediscovery" aspect of the images, offering a dual reading and a "unique" experience for viewers who use special glasses to perceive the volume. Caus highlights photography's "magic" as an experience.
This work is part of Murs, a broader project by Caus exploring the relationship between stone, landscape, and perception. The photographer is currently working on new projects about volcanic quarries in Lanzarote and megalithic constructions in the Calaf area, which will also utilize 3D technology.
