The Salvem Cal Macià platform filed a complaint on Monday with the Lleida Prosecutor's Office against Alcarràs Town Council and the Department of Culture for negligence in protecting Francesc Macià's house.

The Popular Initiative Salvem Cal Macià-Casa Vallmanya filed the complaint, arguing that both institutions have "deliberately" failed to comply with the obligations set out in the Catalan Cultural Heritage Law. The group attributes alleged crimes against heritage and prevarication to the administration, noting that they are "well aware" of the house's advanced state of ruin.

"With this step, we bring all available information to the attention of the prosecutor's office, so that they may investigate whether our suspicions are true and whether the two administrations have committed crimes against Catalan cultural heritage."

The Salvem Cal Macià platform states that over the past nine years they have "exhausted all possible avenues of dialogue" with successive municipal and regional governments. They consider the current situation "critical" and that the house's condition does not allow for "further delays, deceptions, or new excuses."

It will now be in the courts where it is decided whether acting deliberately against historical, architectural, and national heritage goes unpunished in this country or, conversely, has those responsible and is punishable.

The group also believes there is a "clear connivance" between the Alcarràs Town Council and the property owner in their desire to demolish the house. It is worth noting that the Government declared the summer house of president Francesc Macià in Vallmanya, Alcarràs, a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN), in the historical site category, last July.
