Truck driver criminally charged for erratic and drunk driving on the A-2 highway

The 49-year-old driver was intercepted by the Mossos d'Esquadra near Tàrrega after other road users alerted the emergency services.

The Mossos d'Esquadra criminally charged a 49-year-old man on Sunday night for driving a truck while drunk and recklessly on the A-2 highway, following alerts from other motorists.

The incident took place around eleven o'clock on Sunday night, when several drivers called 112 to report a heavy vehicle driving in a highly dangerous manner.
Witnesses reported that, near Alcoletge, the truck was constantly invading both lanes of the A-2, seriously jeopardizing road safety.
Several units of the Mossos d'Esquadra were quickly mobilized and managed to locate and stop the driver at kilometer 507, within the municipality of Tàrrega.

The man tested positive for alcohol with a value of 0.70 mg/L, nearly three times the legal limit allowed for professional drivers.

The 49-year-old man was criminally charged as the alleged perpetrator of reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was immobilized, and the driver must appear before the courts in Cervera.
