The Bishop of Lleida, Daniel Palau, has emphasized the importance of keeping religious and political spheres separate after blocking a PP party event at a local parish hall in Gardeny.

During the unveiling of the 2026 Holy Week poster at the Episcopal Palace, the Bishop stated that religious venues should not host partisan activities. This follows his decision to deny Xavi Palau, the local PP spokesperson, permission to hold a debate at Santa Maria de Gardeny church.

"We cannot accept political acts within religious premises. There are Christians with political thoughts in all parties and we cannot lean towards one or the other."

The Bishop also expressed support for new homeless shelters in the Balàfia and Josefines areas, urging the community to overcome fear and show courage in welcoming those in need.
