The Club Ciclista Lleida (CECLLEIDA) unveiled its new sports structure yesterday at the Balàfia Civic Center, including the Elite-U23 team, the competition calendar for the 2026 season, and the new equipment.
The main goal of this sports project is to provide continuity and opportunities for young cyclists in the region during a crucial stage of their training and professional projection.
The event was attended by representatives of the club, institutions, and the federative world. Among the speakers was Òscar Martínez, Deputy for Public Health and Sports of the Diputació de Lleida (Lleida Provincial Council), who highlighted the importance of the initiative.
“"Betting on an Elite–U23 team is betting on the future of Lleida sports, on retaining young talent, and on offering athletes the possibility of growing without having to leave the territory."
Martínez added that cycling transmits fundamental values such as effort, perseverance, and teamwork, considering sports an essential tool for public health and personal development.
Also participating in the presentation were the club president, Sergi Mateu, the Sports Delegate, Xavier Serratosa, and the former Olympic athlete Jackson Quiñónez.
