The Mossos d'Esquadra police reported a 62-year-old truck driver on Monday evening after he fled the scene of an accident involving a hazardous materials truck in Almacelles.

The incident occurred around 7:00 PM this Monday on the A-22 highway in Almacelles. The driver's vehicle sideswiped another truck carrying 17,000 liters of caustic soda. Despite the dangerous cargo, the collision only resulted in minor damage to the rearview mirror and bodywork.
A Traffic patrol located the suspect vehicle swerving across the A-2 highway toward Barcelona. Although the driver initially ignored police orders to pull over, he was eventually intercepted on the N-II road in Bell-lloc d'Urgell.
Breathalyzer tests revealed a level of 0.90 mg/l, which is six times the legal limit for professional drivers. The individual, who has a prior record for similar offenses, has been charged with reckless driving and crimes against road safety.
