The four new trains, manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler and awarded in 2021 for 63 million euros, are currently undergoing nocturnal testing. These trains will offer a total of 14 daily services per direction between Lleida and Cervera, with five of these extending to Terrassa.
“"There is good will to work towards securing the budget, but if it has to be extended, we hope to be able to implement everything that has been proposed in the vegueria."
The Government delegate in Lleida, Núria Gil, expressed confidence that the replacement of the current rolling stock and the management by FGC will put an end to the constant delays and breakdowns that the line currently suffers, which have led to numerous user complaints.
As part of the forecasts for 2026, Gil also confirmed the opening of the new Lleida bus station during the first quarter and the full operation of the new school in Castellnou de Seana (Pla d'Urgell) in September. This will be the first school in the vegueria built entirely with this government's budget.
Regarding infrastructure, the approval of the Urban Master Plan (PDU) for the Torreblanca industrial park is expected during the first semester, with the start of the first development works scheduled for 2027. Concerning roads, the Govern is working on informative studies for five key bypasses, including Tàrrega, and will deploy the agreement for improving road connectivity in Les Garrigues Altes, involving an investment of 18.4 million euros.
Finally, in the health sector, the new Almenar Primary Care Center (CAP) will enter service in the spring, and the exterior structure works of the Surgical Block at the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital are expected to finish this year. In security, the new Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Mollerussa will be operational by the end of 2026, and the project for the new central police station in Ponent, located in La Bordeta, will begin drafting.
